ChatGPT Ads Expands to 26 More Countries
ChatGPT Ads is expanding into another 26 countries, with OpenAI putting the service’s worldwide availability at 89 countries. The company said businesses in the added markets could purchase advertising either through technology partners or directly through the self-service tools in Ads Manager.
For ChatGPT users, OpenAI said advertising would be limited to the Free and Go subscription plans. The company said its Plus, Pro and Enterprise plans would continue without ads.
Latin America accounts for 14 of the countries in the expansion, according to OpenAI, which listed Peru, Colombia, Argentina and Chile among the additions. The company also described additions across Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Examples it identified included Pakistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ukraine, Serbia, South Africa and Nigeria; those examples were not the full list of new markets.
OpenAI’s cumulative advertiser count exceeded 100,000 as of October 21, 2026, according to the company. That figure covers advertisers that had run campaigns at any point since ChatGPT Ads launched just over eight months earlier. It is not a count of advertisers still running campaigns.
In its explanation of how the advertising system works, OpenAI described an ad-selection service operating separately from the process that generates ChatGPT responses. The company said that service can use both the message a user is currently sending and the history of the conversation when choosing an advertisement. This was a general description of the system, rather than a report of its performance in the newly added countries.
OpenAI also said advertisements carry labels and are displayed separately from ChatGPT responses, without influencing the answers the system produces. On data handling, the company stated that customer data is not sold and that advertisers do not receive users’ conversations.
