ForSight Robotics has reported the completion of 26 fully robotic-assisted cataract surgeries using its JASPER platform, marking a milestone in clinical robotic eye surgery procedures.
According to the company, all surgeries were performed without switching to manual techniques. The procedures were carried out as part of an ongoing first-in-human feasibility study that began in February 2026 and is still recruiting participants.
The surgical team included Dr. Alexey Rapoport, who performed the operations, with Dr. Robert T. Ang serving as Principal Investigator for the study. Each patient received standard cataract anesthesia, either topical or mild sedation, and was discharged on the same day as their surgery.
The JASPER platform integrates several advanced technologies, such as bimanual robotic manipulation, high-definition 3D visualization, real-time eye tracking, motion scaling, tremor elimination, and computer vision. These features are designed to support precise and consistent surgical performance.
