Aramco Completes Acquisition of 49% Stake in HUMAIN

Saudi Aramco acquired a 49% interest in HUMAIN through a subsidiary it owns outright, with the transaction completed on November 1, 2026, according to Aramco and the Public Investment Fund. PIF retained the remaining 51% of the AI company.

HUMAIN began operations in May 2025, according to Aramco, and its development work spans AI infrastructure, models and applications. Aramco said those activities include data centers, cloud platforms and high-performance computing, alongside advanced AI models and solutions for industry. Among its models is ALLaM, described by Aramco as an Arabic large language model with multimodal capabilities.

Under the transaction terms described by Aramco and PIF, Aramco’s contribution includes approximately SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in cash to HUMAIN during 2026. The announcement also identifies AI, computing and digital assets as part of Aramco’s contribution for its ownership interest.

Aramco and PIF said HUMAIN’s deployment plan targets 3 gigawatts of data-center capacity for AI by 2030. That figure represents planned capacity rather than a measure of current operations. The shareholders also said they would each contribute AI assets, personnel and capabilities to HUMAIN and oversee the company’s expansion plans.

The closing follows an October 2025 announcement by Aramco and PIF of a term sheet outlining a proposed minority investment by Aramco in HUMAIN. That document was non-binding. The proposal included bringing selected AI assets, personnel and capabilities together within HUMAIN, with the transaction subject to final agreements, regulatory clearance and other customary conditions.
